Family is what happens when two people fall in love. Meet our next #JewelInHisCrown, Luchae Williams (34), a blogger, accounts manager and mom of four based in Port Elizabeth. By Tamsyn Cornelius
As a young mom at just 19 years of age, the reality of life’s struggles slapped Luchae square in the face. Suddenly she had another life to care for besides her own. But how would she navigate this journey of becoming an adult and a mother at the same time?Luchae dug deep and found her strength in Christ.
Looking back, the journey has been filled with tears and sweet rewards. Four years ago, she married the love of her life, Christopher, and together they now share two beautiful babies, Karis (3) and Jonah (8 months). Her firstborn, Kyle is now 16 and she also became a ‘mom’ to Chris’s son, Seth, aged 11.
Today Luchae is the advertising accounts manager of the Eastern Cape’s biggest newspaper, The Herald. She is an avid blogger and music reviewer and also acts as the content producer for the online Christian newspaper, Gateway News.
Luchae’s motherhood journey:
“I was a “teen mom” statistic. I gave birth to Kyle at the tender age of 19 and at that point I thought that my life was over. I struggled to be the best mommy I could be, because quite honestly, I still had a lot of growing up to do myself. But God is in the business of restoration! When Kyle was 7 years old, I met Chris and the rest is sweet history and a beautiful testimony.
I became “mommy” to Seth a few years later when Chris and I tied the knot and suddenly our family dynamic changed! I now had two sons… something that both Kyle and I had to wrap our minds around. Surprisingly, a year later when Karis joined our troop things got easier, not more difficult.
“God is in the business of restoration.”
Our little girl is a ray of sunshine and she simply connected the dots for us. As a mommy of a girl, you learn new things about your own womanhood and the type of woman you want to be (Proverbs 31, duh!) because you now have a tiny human who looks to you as an example.
When I found out I was pregnant with Jonah, it came as a surprise… we definitely did not plan to have another baby, but I reminded my husband about a prophecy we received a few years prior, about the name Jonah. We were reminded that God does not forget the promises He makes to us. I can’t imagine life without our baby Jo now! He is the cherry on the cake.
Being mom to four is quite a task! I quickly had to learn how to keep calm in the storm (you try giving your attention to four children at the same time, with a smile on your face!) and how to somehow divide all my love and devotion, equally, to all of my kids. I wonder how our Daddy God does it?!”
