Tell us what it is you do.
At Pradue Financial Services, we deal with long term insurance, namely funeral cover, investments and savings and retirement annuity. I worked for Old Mutual for 22 years before I decided to take the leap of faith to start my own business.
Why and how did you start your business?
Insurance is in my blood and I decided that I no longer wanted to work for a corporate company, so I started my own brokerage. I now have three contracts with top South African brands including Clientele, 1life and OId Mutual.
What is the one thing that you’re most passionate about when it comes to your business?
I am most passionate about providing the right service to the right client and seeing that the client is happy and satisfied after our appointment or meeting.

What has been the biggest challenge?
It is not easy running your own business. I never realised everything that goes into starting up your own business.
What has been some of the benefits of working for yourself?
You have your own time so you can plan your day daily.
What motivates you to keep going?
My agents that work for me keep me going. They are so motivated and positive and that in turn makes me happy.
What tips can you offer to someone interested in working in your industry?
Do a course in Marketing and Sales Management and practice your sales skills. You need to sell snow to an eskimo… If you want to start a business, be sure to do your homework and research.

Do you have a favourite quote or mantra?
Always do your best no matter what and it will pay off.
Three things you can’t live without?
God, family and lip gloss.
